SEO Techniques

"Wondering how to boost your small business's search engine optimization (SEO)? SEO refers to the strategies used to improve a website's visibility and ranking in search engine results. Mastering SEO can drive more traffic to your site and help you connect with potential customers. Let's explore effective SEO techniques you can implement to enhance your online presence and grow your small business."

Strategy 80-20

Are you having a hard time finding clients, creating a following and encouraging engagement? It might be time to think about what strategy you are using. Try out the 80/20 rule for a few weeks and see if it makes a difference in your businesses engagement and growth. Sometimes all a startup or new business needs is just a new perspective.

The Big Question

Once you have answered the question; "Who is my target audience?" you must then ask "Where are they?". Once you know what their hobbies, interests and likes are, you must then put your business THERE.

Focus Your Social Energy

Navigating the world of social media can be overwhelming for any business owner. With platforms like YouTube, Instagram, and countless others, it can be challenging to decide where to focus your efforts and choose which platforms to be on. These three tips will guide you on your social media journey and help you achieve success.

  1. You don't need to be on every social platform.
If you're new to social media, start with just one platform, preferably the one you're most familiar with. Otherwise, select no more than two platforms to focus on initially, with one as your primary platform with a large reach.
Build a solid foundation and skills on your primary platform first.
  2. Choose intentionally
If you do not plan to outsource your social profile management, be intentional about your choices. The top three platforms based on reach are Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram, in that order. (I recommend every business have a Facebook page.) Your secondary platform should align with your business type and content capabilities. If you don't have the time or energy to create and edit video content, you may want to avoid TikTok and YouTube.
Remember, you will still need to diversify your content types.
  3. Be realistic
Be realistic about your abilities, time, and business style. Success on any social media platform requires long-term commitment and consistency, just like any other area of your business. Don't overthink it - there is no one-size-fits-all approach to the relationship between business and social media.
Go easy on yourself and focus on what works best for you.

The primary thing I want you to keep in mind is to start small and build out. You may have seen many people “go viral” and have it do wonders for their business over night. But what you aren’t seeing is the drop that quickly happens afterwards. The following and sales they generated were not built on community or consistency, and therefore quickly extinguish and can leave a business owner feeling deflated.
You want to foster a relationship and community using social media, besides do you really want to wake up tomorrow and have 600+ inboxes to respond to. Would you even have time to do so? This is why becoming “viral” can actually hurt rather than help your business.
